Alternate Reality Game
Background
For about three months, I worked with my classmates on an Alternate Reality Game. We decided to do it based on the college that we were attending at the time, which was the University of California, Santa Cruz. We wanted it to feel surreal to people and also give them a story that students can be curious about. We decided to base our story around the animals on the campus because our school is embedded in a forest and there is so much wildlife that we see on a regular basis. I helped with the creation of the overall game story and planning the progression that the players go through. I also helped make some of the puzzles as well as helped interview and storyboard the short documentary we created.

Planning
I helped make a large part of the story as well as making some of the puzzles in the game later on.

This is some of the pre-planning that went into the game. A story is vital to an ARG, so as a part of the narrative team, we had to really flesh out the story for other parts of the game to take form.

One of our puzzles involved using CSO reports we created to lead them to a physical location, which were shrines we created.

This was more of the story planning that we worked on and tried our best to make things work.
