Guns of Icarus: Board Game

Background

In my Game Systems class, our assignment was to take an existing video game and turn it into an analog game. We decided to base the board game on Guns of Icarus, which would be a 6 player 3 vs. 3 game. The game is played out on a square grid board that represents the sky. Each team has their own ship board and the goal is to take down the other team's airship first. For us, it was important that the game was modular in that there could be planning in terms of what abilities players choose, and what engine and guns to equip on the ship. We also wanted to make sure that all roles felt balanced. We had to go through multiple playtest sessions to adjust the gameplay and the length of the gameplay. I worked on the design process with the rest of my team and creating most of the prototype cards.
